Railway Platform Wireless Coverage & Emergency Communication Solution

1. Customer Requirements Analysis

Application Scenario: Railway platform area (approx. 5 km long).

Personnel Scale: Approximately 30 on-site staff.

Core Requirements:

  • Data Transmission: Real‑time transmission of on‑site operations to the monitoring center.
  • Functions: Two‑way voice communication and GPS positioning.
  • Network Coverage: Full wireless coverage supporting LAN data transmission.

2. Solution Design

Based on requirements and site conditions, we provide a hybrid network solution: 4G Body Worn Cameras + WiFi Base Stations, balancing functionality and operational costs.

2.1 Terminal Configuration

Each of the 30 staff members is equipped with a 4G Android Body Worn Device. It supports real‑time video, two‑way intercom, and GPS positioning to fully meet operational needs.

2.2 Cost Control & Network Optimization

Pain Point: Exclusive carrier 4G data leads to high long‑term costs.

Solution: Deploy base stations for WiFi coverage across the platform.

Advantage: 4G body cameras support WiFi. On-site, devices prefer WiFi to avoid high data fees and ensure stable LAN bandwidth.

3. On-Site Deployment Design

This solution provides full wireless coverage for the 5 km platform area.

3.1 Coverage Deployment

  • Zone Division: 5 km platform divided into 5 sections.
  • Access Points: 5 locations for WiFi coverage.
  • Device: Our SF‑5000MS Base Station Wireless Device.
  • Antenna: External 120° sector antennas for bidirectional coverage.
  • Roaming: All devices use the same SSID for seamless handover.

3.2 Backhaul Connection

Two backhaul options for the 5 WiFi points:

  • Option 1 (Fiber): Fiber connection if conditions allow (most stable).
  • Option 2 (Wireless): Wireless bridging between base stations if cabling is difficult.

4. Functions & Advantages

Android body cameras connect via WiFi on-site, switch between base stations automatically, and transmit data to the monitoring center.

4.1 Core Functions

  • Video Monitoring: Real‑time on-site video transmission via LAN/4G.
  • Two-Way Intercom: Real-time voice between command center and field staff.
  • GPS Positioning: Real-time staff location tracking.
  • Smart Switching: WiFi on-site; auto 4G outside for uninterrupted monitoring.

4.2 Band Advantage

This solution uses 5 GHz WiFi. Compared to 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz offers stronger anti‑interference performance, ideal for railway environments.
