Italian Ancona ISP Field Test: LigoPTP RapidFire 6.5km Wireless Backhaul Extreme Performance

Netoip, an Internet Service Provider from the Ancona region of Italy, joined the Beta testing program for LigoWave’s latest LigoPTP RapidFire wireless backhaul equipment. To verify the equipment’s performance in a real-world environment, the team established a wireless link spanning 6.5 kilometers (4 miles), aiming to provide high-bandwidth data, VoIP voice, and video surveillance services to residential and business customers.

One end of the link is deployed in the city of San Quirico, serving as network backhaul connecting multiple base stations. The on-site installation utilized high-gain external dual-polarization dish antennas to ensure signal strength and link stability for long-distance transmission.

II. Performance Test Data

The technical team used internal throughput testing tools to conduct in-depth testing on the Capacity and Packet Forwarding Rate (PPS) of the LigoPTP RapidFire under different packet sizes. The test environment was configured with an 80 MHz channel bandwidth, maintaining an excellent received signal level of -55 dBm.

Test Results Summary

  • Maximum Throughput: Up to 583 Mbps (Test packet size 512 bytes)
  • Maximum Packet Forwarding Rate: Reached 268,000 PPS (Test packet size 64 bytes)

III. Customer Evaluation and Summary
